The Uniform Code of Military Justice dates back to the 1700’s, on June 30, 1775 the Second Continental Congress established 69 articles of war. These articles were set in place to govern the conduct of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. In 1789 there was ratification in the United States Constitution that gave the Congress the authority to regulate the land and naval forces, and on April 10, 1806 the US Congress declared 101 Articles of War. Some of the Articles in the UCMJ that stood out to me were Article 82, Article, 83, Article 86, Article 92, and Article 104. Article 82: Solicitation, in this article it states that any person subject to this chapter who solicits or advises another or others to desert in violation of section 885. This means that if anyone makes a solicitation or there is advice given with the intent to solicited wrongful information. Solicitation in this case includes word of mouth, or writing. Article 83:Fraudulent enlistment, Appointment, or Separation, in this article it states that any person who obtains his own enlistment or appointment in the armed forces, by deliberate false representation or concealment as to their qualifications for the enlistments and they receive compensation as a result of their enlistment. Article 92: Failure to Ober Order or Regulation, in this article it states that any person who violates or fails to obey any general order or regulation. Also includes, having knowledge of any other lawful order issues by any member of the armed forces; therefore, it is his duty to obey. This means that if an order is given to a member of the armed forced then it is their duty to carry out that duty as follows.
