Andrew Jackson’s presidency has been a debatable topic due to the fact that many people could consider his terms were one of the most unfortunately presidencies in American history. There were two main attributes that led to this debate: he played an active and controlling role mixing his constitutional duty as President and his own personal feelings and opinions, and his role in Native Americans and the United States of America.

Jackson’s major legislative victory was the removal of Indian tribes that at that time seemed like a triumph but is realized today as a complete travesty for human kind and the United States government. Jackson’s motives were controversial but due to his spoils system there were not enough people to create a cloud of doubt around him and make a difference. Prior to the 1830’s the Missouri Compromise was supposedly meant to be the answer to the question by stipulating that new territories gained from the Louisiana Purchase that fall below Missouri’s 36, 30 parallel would be a slave state and that was the end of the arguments that is until the United States gain more territories from Mexico; which once again brought up the question of which states would be free and which states would allow slavery.
New territories included states such as California and Texas, which in their right was both an undiscovered land of endless opportunity.
