Andrew McAfee: What will Future Jobs Look Like? Andrew McAfee had a very interesting Ted Talk on what the future jobs will look like due to the advances in technology. What I found most impressive about his talk was his analogy he used comparing Bill and Ted. He stated that the use of education and training, or the lack there of in Bill’s case lead to many cultural and economic divides many deal with today. Ted, who was college educated and abreast on the latest tech would stay more marketable throughout his career, maintaining a lifestyle in the higher middle class. While Bill would remain lower, more blue collar, and find more rates of unemployment. This also has led to a decrease in income, or even voting in presidential elections, or increased chances for prison. It was so interesting to me, because it addresses that tech is integrated in the almost all jobs. Now it seems most pertinent to be tech savvy or risk losing the middle class. …show more content…
Most cars come with what is essentially computers nowadays, so why is it that we still require a mechanic to diagnose the screeching break sound or the clicking under the hood. Could software not be used to not only tell us what is wrong down to the bolt, but also link with out Amazon account and order replacement parts, or pair with service sites like Angie’s List to find a reputable mechanic. This would place would eliminate the guessing game of, “Am I getting the best price or getting ripped off here?” By putting the market at your finger tips and eliminating human error in the diagnostic
