It came to my attention, being that I am an argumentative person I don’t think intelligence should be the primary qualification for being a leader because it want suit the proper standards. Do you think people should care about this topic? Well let me explain why. With intelligence, you sometimes forget the way other people may feel about a certain aspect. Likewise, intelligence can make you think more of yourself. The pigs most definitely had intelligence, however I think they lacked several qualities that would make people respect you as a leader. There are many qualifications you must have, one of them is having an understanding of what people might want or need. When being an intelligent leader it isn’t going to always be based on a quality work ethic, you’re not always going to be trustworthy enough, and it doesn’t mean you’ll suit the proper …show more content…
What is intelligence? “Intelligence is the ability to obtain and apply knowledge and skills” (Oxford English Dictionary). Just because you’re intelligent doesn’t mean you’ll put effort in what you’re doing. Intelligence doesn’t always suite the proper clarification of being dedicated to do something. You can be unintelligent and still want to strive for what you want to do. In Orwell’s Animal Farm, the pigs were the cleverest so they matched the job of being a leader therefore, the other animals accepted them. I think the pigs were severely lacking in some of these areas for being a leader. I don’t think they were dedicated to their jobs because it was easy for Napoleon to establish and maintain control over the other animals because they were uneducated (20). George Orwell said, “The pigs did not actually work, but directed and supervised the others. With their superior knowledge it was natural that they should assume the leadership” (35).
