Animal rights and animal welfare are looked at from different viewpoints on a continuum that runs from animal liberation at one point to animal exploitation at another. The fact of the matter is that people across the globe are okay with taking the life of another living breathing art form as long as they are taken care of before they are killed, while others could say it’s all cruelty and want to speak up. All animals, just like all other life on earth have just as much a right to live here as you and I. The animal welfare belief supports the humane use of animals which involves maintaining animal well-being and prohibiting unnecessary cruelty. One concern for the welfare of animals is seen in several laws set in the Old Testament and there are requirements that animals also rest on the Sabbath that they be fed before feeding on another. There are also those who think as long as the animals are ‘farm raised’ it is okay to kill these innocent animals, yet they fail to make the connection and most likely fail to see a cow’s life just as meaningful as their own dogs and cats lives. Everyday people use and exploit animals in several ways, including the consumption of meat, milk, eggs, or animal experimentation, fur, hunting, and circuses. Animal rights is not about putting animals above humans, or giving animals the same rights as humans but to make them equal to all other animals or ‘pets’. People who do not exploit animals are not only having billions of animals lives a day but are contributing to a healthier diet, while helping prevent global warming, ocean dead zones, species extinction, habitat destruction and water pollution. At the end of the day animal welfare supporters are still contributing to killing while animal rights supporters want to make a difference in this
