Imagine going into the office Monday morning, sitting down at your desk looking at the stack of mail that came in over the weekend. As you thumb through the stack you sort the mail into stacks, important and junk. After getting all the mail sorted and finishing off the first cup of coffee, you start to open the mail. After a few letters, one letter causes you to take a second look. There is something shiny in there along with a white powder. Unsure of what you are seeing you call over your coworkers to get their opinion. Unknown to you, you have just exposed yourself and your coworkers to a deadly anthrax letter. (CDC 2015) Ottilie Lundgren lived in Oxford, Connecticut. It is thought that one of the anthrax letters mailed 9 October 2001 passed through a postal sorting machine shortly before the letter addressed to Lundgren. The Lundgren letter became cross contaminated exposing Lundgren to the deadly Anthrax virus.(CDC 2015) Whomever mailed the deadly Anthrax virus surely had not targeted this woman, but because Anthrax is spread so easily she fell victim to this heinous attack. Let us look into the possibility of an Anthrax Letter as being potentially the perfect Bioterrorism Weapons. Anthrax is a serious infectious disease caused by gram-positive, rod-shaped bacteria known as Bacillus anthracis. Anthrax can be found naturally in soil and commonly affects domestic and wild animals around the world. The World Trade Center, The Penatagon and United Flight 175 was the first attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. This attack put all Americans on edge. The safe and secure feeling that we once had known had been stripped from us. After the attacks, a different type of attack hit the United States, a biological agent had been mailed to numerous high profile establishments and it even reached the very foundation of the American way, our Federal Government. This biological agent delivered in unsuspecting package reeked havoc over our county. The effects of this biological attack 22 people were infected with the Anthrax virus and 5 people were killed by the Anthrax virus.(CDC
