One reason autonomous cars are a great idea is because the number of car accidents could dramatically decrease. According to Swinburne's self-driving car expert Dr Hussein Dia, “A large proportion of car accidents could be avoided by using self-driving vehicles and there is compelling logic in removing humans – the key source of the error – from the driving equation.” This means that, since most car accidents are caused by human error, self-driving cars will decrease the chance of a crash by removing people from the wheel. Computers cannot get drunk or high, getting rid of the need for a designated driver. Car accidents will be decreased dramatically thanks to automonous cars. …show more content…
Florida law firm Denmon & Pearlman says, “Around 800,000 drivers get pulled over every day, and vehicle autonomy could eliminate some 56% of these stops. For law officers, traffic stops are time-consuming and stressful.” In other words, over half of the daily traffic stops will end, and there will be more time for dealing with more serious crimes. It will also decrease the already high levels of stress police officers have. Driverless cars help police focus on bigger crimes rather than small matters like parking
