Social media puts stigma around certain eating disorders to make them seem as if you absolutely have to look or act a certain way to be suffering from an eating disorder.
Thus making it hard for people who are suffering to truly get help.
Modern magazines like “Cosmopolitan” or company's like Victoria Secret use underweight models which appeal to younger girls, who live their lives idolizing an unrealistic images and feel as though they need to look that way.
The newest trend called “memes” on social media with jokes or puns, often mock mental illness by making jokes about real struggles that people go through in their personal lives. These are only a few examples of the negative effects of social media, personally I believe that social media use should be limited and we should really be careful what we post.
