The Crucible Essay
In the play The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, a select number of characters go through a severe and harsh trial. Some were tested more than others, and the guilty were tested less than the rest. Such as Mary Warren, and Abigail Williams. The court system used was very unjust and wrong. This took place in the town of Salem. This was a peaceful, simple town filled with farmers and good people up to the Witch Trials. John Proctor was a Salem farmer married to Elizabeth Proctor. He was formally attached to Abigail Williams. John also had a sexual affair with her while he was with Elizabeth, and the affair was filled with plenty of special hugs. To start off with Mr. Proctor in act one, he had a good reputation in the town of Salem. Some more than others but these were all innocent people that were just viewed differently all because of one opinion. Giles was just trying to help the town, but got screwed in the process of it. Proctor was just standing for what was right but got stabbed in the back by Marry Warren, and accepted his fait at the gallows. Elizabeth was just trying to protect her lover, John proctor but had some heat going on with Abigail. The woman he had an affair with. Judge Danforth didn't wanna look weak so he stuck with his word and technically murdered twelve innocent lives. All because he couldn't accept the fact that he was wrong. Marry Warren seemed so kind and innocent but she was a real backstabber and a coward. She couldn't handle the idea of being affiliated with the devil and being hung so she turned on Proctor. Marry switched sides and joined Abigail and her corrupt self. I feel bad for those that lost their lives to the Witch Trials, but their deaths showed who the real devils
