People can not give up when in hard times, they have to learn from their mistakes. In the 1950’s writers and actors in Hollywood were being accused of having communist ties. The writer of The Crucible, Arthur Miller, was blacklisted from Hollywood because he refused to testify in front of the court. After this happened Miller did not give up. He continued to write many great plays that are still around today. If one fails to do something the first time, they can be more successful by learning from their mistakes and trying it again. When Reverend Hale got fed up with the unjust court in Salem he just gave up. “I denounce these proceedings, I quit this court!” (Page 120). This was the moment that Hale gave up. If he were to stay with the court and continue to have John Proctor’s there would have been a better chance for Hale to persuade the judges. Giving up makes it harder to get what you are trying to achieve even harder. Hard times and struggles in one’s life are needed to make yourself grow stronger and become a better person. Balance in life is very important to become a better person, so when bad things happen to you in life learn from them and become a better person. If people can learn to keep trying and to not give up during hard times the world will become a more efficient
