“This is our first task as a society-keeping our children safe. These are our kids.”, quoted by President Obama. Should guns be in the hands of psychopaths who harm innocent kids or should guns be in the hands of people who can protect kids from harmful people? Today in America people with any type of problems(unless they don’t have criminal illness) can purchase a firearm. Studies showed that 70.8% of people think that people should have a background check before purchasing a firearm. The possession of a firearm should be allowed as long as they have a background check before purchasing one because they might have mental issues, family problems or a record of some type.
People with any type of mental issues should not own guns. Mental issues is a serious problem because those are the type of people who would most likely go on a killing spree. Paranoid Personality Disorder, Depression and Schizophrenia is three mental issues that could possible lead to an homicidal act. Abusive parents, alcoholic parents and child molestation can make a child snap and kill their parents. Abusive parents: The child might get tired of being beaten everyday over little things and they might finally decide that enough is enough and kill them both parents (the other parent because they didn’t stop the other parent from abusing the child). Alcoholic parent: The child gets tired of having a drunk parent (or parents) that verbally abuse them and probably doesn’t feed them, they finally snap and kill both parents because you are tired of living that way. Child molestation: If one of the parents are molesting the child and the child bottles it all up because they are scared to tell someone, one day the child is tired of it and the child kills the parent (or both) and then kills
