“Homerun!” There goes another athlete making history, a history filled with lies. Many athletes have been stripped of their medals and trophies because of illegal drug use. High schools around the world are now drug testing student athletes. Why are all these athletes taking performance enhancements? They should know that practice and dedication are the best way to get better at something.. These accomplishments should not be recognized when these substances are used. Performance enhancing substances should not be allowed in major league sports. Performance enhancing substances should not be allowed in major league sports because many athletes lose their awards. Major league athletes are taking performance enhancing substances to try and perfect their performance. Major league athletes are taking performance enhancing substances and are being banned for a certain amount of time from the activity. In Doping in Sports Timeline, the author states, “The National Basketball Players Association begins adding steroids to its list of banned substances. The list is updated in 2000 and again in 2004 to include steroids like Andro and Stanozolol, as well as other performance-enhancing drugs like pseudoephedrine and Ephedra”(Doping in Sports Timeline). Many major league sports are banning more performance enhancements. Sooner or later, all performance enhancements will be banned.
