Some infections bacteria cause include sore throats, ear infections, cavities, and pneumonia. To find the amount of bateria on tabletops in fast food restaurant and sit-down restaurants, we will need some supplies. The materials we need are a petri dish, a pencil, an incubator, a hot water bath, nutrient agar, and a thermometer. We need to take bacterial swabs from different restaurants and different types of restaurants. Then we will inoculate a petri dish with bacterial culture. Bacterial culture is a method of multiplying microbial organisms by letting them reproduce in predetermined culture media under controlled laboratory conditions. Bacterial colonies come in many different forms and shapes, but they are clearly visible and easy to see and count. We need to determine what kind of environment conditions influence bacterial growth. We will set up a hot water bath at 95C, loosen the caps, and place nutrient agar bottle until it liquifies. Nutrient agar is a general purpose medium supporting growth of a wide range of non-fastidious organisms. While waiting for the agar to cool, we are going to lift part of the cover of the …show more content…
