The Baroque time period seems to focus a lot on the topic of religion. Based on some basic knowledge, I know that the Catholic church was trying to regain or keep full control of the people in this time and since a large portion of society could not read or write, the church used the art of the time as a way to pull the people in. Artist were being encouraged to express their faith through beautiful artworks. Baroque art and architecture are dramatic and offer rich details to the viewer and perhaps honest realism. The art during this time depicts scenes as if they were capturing the most dramatic moment, without leaving much to the imagination.
