To better understand the different aspects of social, economic, political, and religious lie of Baroque works, first we must know what are Baroque works? This is an artistic style that started in Italy and Rome that eventually spread to the majority of Europe. To this day there are hundreds of works utilizing this style in Europe today. the movement of motion is easily seen and recognizable in works using this style. Not only was this style used for different works of art but also in; dance music, and the theater (Wiki 1). Baroque works "employed an iconography that was direct, simple, obvious, and theatrical"(Wiki 1). The architecture found in Rome at the Trevi Fountain displays a Baroque style. Another major theme is not only religious work but mythological and historical works as well that portray a story or history and using intense colors, and dramatic lighting these works depict a lot of emotion going along with the story and myths depicted. Lastly, a major theme I've noticed in a lot of these artworks is death. The process of dying, the aftermath of death, and the how it occurred. Anyone can commission artwork, it's just the hiring and paying an individual, or group of individuals, to create a piece of art. A single person, the government, or a business can commission art. the relationships have changed between artists and patrons since the Baroque era because in his day in age most people are neither here nor there about a work of art and I wouldn't say that artwork could tear a nation or religion apart. In the Baroque era the issues between the Protestants and the Catholics used artwork as a "weapon."Artists have so much power when it comes to public opinion.
