THESIS: Major League Baseball should allow players to use anabolic steroids under controlled supervision of professional physicians because it would increase the sports’ revenue and allow fans to fall back in love with the game.
I. Major League Baseball’s ratings have the potential to skyrocket if anabolic steroids were allowed under supervision.
A. Chris Smith reflects on how the steroid era affected Americans, “ Jerseys flew off the shelves, games sold out and baseball was exciting that some have gone so far as to claim it ruined post-steroid baseball”(Smith. Par. 5).

Baseball idealists might argue how doping is contrary to the spirit of baseball.
1. Even though anabolic steroids has always been a part of the game under the table Dayn Perry makes us question, what really is the spirit of baseball: “Take any baseball statistic and something inflating or depressing it to some degree”(Perry 5)
a. Sandy Koufax was so successful because of how he abused the illegally heightened mound in Dodger Stadium and Gaylord Perry can thank the infamous spitball for his plaque in Cooperstown.

C. The abuse of steroids have been prevalent in baseball throughout its entirety, but you never see anything about it in baseballs museum, the Hall of Fame.
V. The authorization of anabolic steroids will allow the committee to look past the steroid era of the late 90’s and allow those players in the Hall of Fame. ‘
A. The controversial issue of Hall of Fame voting which the committee has kept out all players suspected of taking steroids could be solved by legalizing anabolic steroids and forcing the committee to not have a reason to allow players like Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire in (Smith. Par. 8).
1. In a time when supposedly “everyone was doing it” any player who had a great year during 1995-2001 is suspected to have used anabolic steroids during that time.
2. Hall of Fame should be a museum for all of baseball and should include everything throughout baseball’s history instead of just including the
