The Byzantine Empire was an empire founded in 330 AD by Constantine I. It was Eastern half of the Roman Empire and was sustained far longer than its other half, the Western Roman Empire. It has witnessed many great rulers, such as Justinian the Great, Leo I, Basil I, and Heraclius. One emperor stands out amongst these amazing rulers, and that is Basil I, who had an amazing life story. Basil I has been claimed to have done numerous great things such as founding the Macedonian dynasty in the Byzantine Empire, to starting a military campaign against the Paulician religious sect, and revised the Roman legal codes, creating the Basilica.
