Write three paragraphs (300-400 words) answering the following questions. Support your answers with specific details and examples.
1) Think of a challenging or inspiring individual that you have worked with. How would studying the individual behavior of employees help you become a better manager?
Studying the individual behavior of a challenging individual I worked with could help me as a manager identify something I could do to motivate a similar employee. For example, the gentleman I worked with would complain to us, the other employees, about how management didn’t care about what we thought and they were making all the decisions for a job they don’t do. However he would never stress those concerns to management although he had some good solutions to the problems within the department. Studying his behavior would make me a better manager by being able to recognize these mannerisms and be able to find a way to get that person to feel like their opinion is valued by the organization.
2) What would a manager need to know about group behavior to successfully manage an organization?
3) Describe a time when you had the wrong perception of a person. What steps could you take to prevent this from happening in the future?
We got a new radiology technologist in our department. He was horrible when it came to the job of being a radiology tech. He would spend at least thirty minutes on each patient when it on average should only take fifteen minutes. Also 75% of all the x-rays he took need to be repeated exposing the patient to more radiation. No doctor wanted him to run the C-arm in the operating room and no one wanted be the other tech with him on the weekend because it felt like you were the only tech there. I though he didn’t cane about the job so I would give him the less complicated exams and would send him to room five which was in the back and we only used that room if we were super busy that way he would be out of
