(Nolen-Hoeksema, 2014). As I mentioned in the beginning of my paper we face life in many ways in which of them is the way we learn. Each day we wake up and looking at the world in our own ways, a person will learn in their own way, some struggle and some don’t. For instance I was a helper in my son’s class room and I had to sit and listen to kids read. I would ask them can you tell me what the book was about. Some of the kids could and of course some could not. Some of the kids would say this dumb why do I have to read. The teacher relied on me for feedback and I would tell her the kids that was struggling and having a negative attitude. I realized at moment that I was that kid that could not comprehend what I read. That is why I have struggled through my life. I still have a negative attitude with reading. I get very upset when I don’t understand what I just read. So, every time I have to read I already have that negative attitude saying I can’t do this. I have always felt helpless and with low self-esteem. Being in college is very difficult for me because I do get depressed after doing bad in a class. But I’m trying to teach myself different ways of understanding. I never thought I would ever get through life but with this type of theory will teach you in many ways. In some ways is to see if the person is motivated and can one actually control the situation that is on hand. “The goal of cognitive behavioral therapy is to help a person learn to recognize negative patterns of thought, evaluate their validity, and replace them with healthier ways of thinking.”
