When the government is exploiting its citizens and not giving them any freedoms, Americans do not stand by and watch. Specifically, Americans have banded together to form unions for better workplace conditions. These unions have created safe working environments for factory workers, better and equal pay for the general working population, and gained benefits such as paid vacation days. On the same note, even if the wrong-doing is in another country, Americans will go to help just like in the Middle East with the wars going on. American soldiers go to fight for the liberation of people by stopping the fighting and resolving the conflict. On a smaller scale, Americans will help out people being bullied in their vicinity. Bullying is a big problem in schools today and many cases go unreported. Some people that are bullied are helped by friends or even strangers because most Americans are taught to stand up to violence instead of turning away. Consider how America became America. The very first Americans wanted something they were not getting from the current government and so they fought for their freedom and the freedom of their friends.
