To compare our two heroes to each other, we must first learn their backstories.
Beowulf is the story of a man named Beowulf, The Prince of The Geats. It begins in Heorot, a mead hall which was just recently finished. Beowulf, the tough guy who has a heart of gold, stronger than a monster that has slain dozens of warriors and citizens, and is skilled with weapons, leadership, and loved by the people. This guy is the hero to be. Achilles, the man who relied on his own self interests, is a soldier of the highest caliber, skilled in almost all weapon arts and crafts, has the gods on his side, and defiles a human corpse, whom begged not to be harmed after death. These two very different heroes have some similarities between them. They both were very skilled warriors. Beowulf fought with his sword or his bare hands, using mainly his strength to fight and win his battles. Achilles fought with a spear in the battle with Hector, using his patience and cunning to find the weak points in the armor to kill his enemy. Another similarity that the two heroes believed in their own gods. Beowulf in the Christian god, and Achilles in the Greek gods. However they were both divine powers, or deities that helped the story move forward. Both heroes did not need their gods to live through the battles and encounters, but the gods did improve their situations
