Beowulf and Achilles are both powerful royal men. Beowulf was the focal point of the Anglo- Saxons while Achilles was the focal point of Homer’s Iliad. Achilles had one immortal parent while Beowulf’s parents appear to be mortal. Both men also had physical challenges that they must overcome. Achilles had to fight a number of strong warriors who were either Trojans or rivals of the Trojan while Beowulf had to battle a creature named Grendel and his mom and a dragon. In the end he defeats the dragon but suffers a wound that ended his life, while Achilles dies before the Trojan war was completed. Beowulf and Achilles share similar values of courage. They are willing to fight whoever is in their path. Both of them were powerfully strong because they were warriors and the strength helps you win battles. They were both loyal and willing to fight to protect their people. However, Beowulf and Achilles are different in a lot of ways. Achilles fights against Hector for revenge while Beowulf’s fight was based on defending the people.
