She has proved to the world, her abilities of surfing at a professional level, but also how she obtains outstanding acts of heroism. Hamilton motivated people from around the world to continue with their dreams, no matter the obstacles in their way. She overcame many challenges after her attack as a teenager. From a very young age, Bethany knew she was going to surf. It was her life and what she grew up around. Bethany inspires those who listen because of her relatable issues and stories. Bethany Hamilton’s story is tragic, but so encouraging and inspiring for those who are struggling in life. If it wasn’t for her attack, Bethany would have never inspired or reached out to the amount of people that she has. She received letters from people all over the world sharing their stories with her and explaining how her bravery and courage inspired them to try new things. She got the attention of other children with disabilities similar to hers and brought joy to their lives again. Her obstacles are much greater than most, but it creates her story and makes people look up to her and life in a positive way. Hamilton's attack led others to reach out to her and share their stories. She was only a teenager when the attack happened, so the sudden attention from people around the world came as a shock, and Bethany wasn’t ready. She shared how she wasn’t trying to be an inspiration to others, she was just trying to move on with her life and continue doing what she loves. Surfing brought her happiness and brought others hope in the ability to do what they love again,
