Birth Story for LBT
Nov. 29 2013
The interview took place in the patient’s room on the morning of Nov. 29, 2013. LBT is a 31 years old G5P3 Caucasian woman recovering from going through an elective caesarean section at 39 weeks and1 day gestation on Nov. 28, 2013 at 8.30 am. The baby was 9 lb. 8 oz. with APGAR 8/9 at 1 min. and 5 min. respectively, and her two older children are 10 and 9 years
According to LBT, she never wanted to have children by the caesarean section because all the female in her family had their babies by vaginal births. LBT has a history of caesarean section with her older children due to two different reasons. With her first child, the fetus was in the longitudinal vertex position but by the time she went for her last prenatal visit, her doctor told her the fetus had changed to the breech position. Several attempts were made to change the fetus’s position back but to no avail, so she was scheduled for a C-section procedure. The second child’s C-section birth was by choice as mentioned by LBT, his EDD was three days before Christmas and LBT said she did not want to spend the holiday period in the hospital, so she decided to have an elective C-section two weeks before her due date. With her two history of Caesarean section procedures, LBT said her doctors said she could not attempt a vaginal birth and so had another elective C-section.
LBT was asked why she decided to have a baby now since her last child is 9 years old, she replied “it just came to be, it was not planned. Because I am not always consistence with my birth-control pill”. LBT said she had her second son fourteen months after her first child because she was not taking her contraceptive pills regularly and after the second baby she had an IUD inserted for five years. After removing the IUD she went on the pill, but due to her inconsistency with the pill she got pregnant. In September, LBT had a
