They thought everything from living things to nonliving things had a spirit and it could be either good or evil. With their beliefs they had many ceremonies to go with their thoughts. The main ceremony the Blackfoot people had was the Sun Dance. The Sun Dance is a yearly event and is also known as the Medicine Lodge Ceremony (Blackfoot Indian). During this ritual they would sing, dance, and pray with the buffalo being the center of the ceremony. Also at this ceremony they would play drums, flutes and other instruments and sing songs usually connected to legends or myths that they would teach kids (Lodgepole). The ceremony was in honor of the buffalo because they relied on it so much (Blackfoot Indian). At these ceremonies they would wear special clothing rather than their casual attire. The causal attire for the women was a deerskin dress and the men wore buckskin tunics with leggings, they both would also wear darkened moccasins. The chief of the Tribe would wear a tall feather headdress. On special occasions the men and women would do their hair and men would wear their hair in three braids with a topknot called a high pompadour. The women did their hair in two thick braids or just left it loose. They would also both do different war paint for festivals or ceremonies.
