This power point presentation will showcase diagrams and information pertaining to variations of different types of ankle fractures. It will also define and identify the treatment, causes, risk factors, complications, and symptoms and rehabilitation concerning each of the various fractures. The information will provide steps and guidelines to the appropriate treatment and steps to take and when one should contact medical professional assistance. It will also provide information to educate the individual and provide a better understanding of fractures. A stress fracture will not show until it began the healing process. In a Bone Scan (Scintigraphy test ) or CT scan as it is commonly known, radioactive injections through the vein provides assistance to showcase the fracture. The radioactive material in the injections shows as a bright spot which identifies the injury in the image. The CT scan test is more conclusive than a normal x-ray. This is an imaging x-ray technology that provides images of one’s internal organs in two dimensional slices.Tthe bone scan also known as the which show images of one’s bones condition before and after treatment and help the doctor with future problems.
The Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showcases the ligaments holding the ankle bones together through radioactive images. The MRI generally showcases fractures more than a regular x-ray. Doctors order this test more so for athletes and others who are actively standing or walking the majority of their job performances.

These are individuals such as athletes in a variety of sports such as tennis players, basketball, football, and ordinary people including construction workers. Individuals who are constantly on his or her feet within an eight hour day are at a high risk for a fracture. The stress of falls, twists and blows to the ankle are high risk factors. In football, basketball and tennis players are constantly running, and making sharp turns and quick stops which more often than not causes ankle fractures. Construction workers often fall and or step wrong and walk on unlevel ground which contributes to ankle fractures. Sometimes heavy objects can fall onto one’s foot causing a fracture. Each of these examples accounts for more than half the ankle fractures yearly.
