Benefits of Breastfeeding To breastfeed or not to breastfeed, is a question many new moms face. There are many opinions regarding breastfeeding. Is it really more beneficial than formula feeding? According to pregnancybirthandbaby.org, there are numerous reasons to choose to breastfeed over formula feed. I strongly agree that breastfeeding is more beneficial to both, baby and mother. There has been a lot of research done to prove this. One of the main reasons mothers choose to breastfeed is due to the fact that it is free. I have had to buy formula and it is very expensive. A 35 oz. can of formula can cost around $20 to $40. The price depends on the brand and many other factors. A lot of working moms decide to take time off so they can care for their newborn. For example, it releases oxytocin and prolactin which produce a sensation that allows the mother to relax and it promotes a sense of attachment between the mother and the baby.
