The Broken Windows Model argues that constant monitoring, and maintaining of urban environments to prevent low level crimes creates an atmosphere of lawfulness and order. Capability of law enforcement officers to monitor low level crimes will result to the prevention of more serious crimes. Examples of low level crimes include vandalism, toll jumping and vandalism. Furthermore, examples of serious crimes are murder and robbery.
Proactive supervision model on the other hand seeks to address the behavior of an offender and comes up with a solution that will help in correcting negative behaviors. Under this model, probation officers will develop strategies which will help to address the behavioral difficulties of offenders (McShane, 2013).
