The 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln' had a promise “To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan” by serving and honoring the men and women who are America’s veterans. (VHA) .When looking into the maximum comprehensive organization of assistance for veterans, the United States is number one in the world. A key element for many men or women to serve our country was the understanding of education {can help pay for schooling}, provide a strong foundation for their family, and give medical benefits. The United States Congress established a system of veteran’s benefits after World War. Different programs were established to help aide compensation for disability, “insurance for service persons and veterans, and vocational rehabilitation for disabled” (VHA). “The VA health care system has grown from 54 hospitals in 1930, to include 152 hospitals; 800 community based outpatient clinics; 126 nursing home care units; and 35 domiciliary” (VHA). Veterans Administration responsibilities have grown hugely over the years. Working at the VA Hospital, I have first-hand on what the organization are all about and what it take to run the daily operations. As Americans we must clear understanding on the principles that help “govern the changes underway, namely being people-centric, results-driven, and forward-looking” (Secretary Shinseki).
Competitive marketing analysis
The VA hospitals strengths are remarkable, furthermore, the compassion to serve and maintain a strong foundation by building a competitive advantage for our veterans. The hospitals never wavier from the readiness to the community and qualified staff are one of their abundant strengths. Any chance to allow their patients, to be afforded opportunities with additional products or services will help generate larger revenues. “Customers have substantial bargaining power in their relationship with the firm; they can exert pressure that increases competitive intensity in the industry.” (Moseley, 2009) Many surveys have been taken, but the outcome remains the same, nevertheless threats from a “SWOT Analysis may prove to be either a threat or an opportunity” (VHA). The VA hospital take pride in finding diverse solution for medical error prevention with a system called succession planning. Succession planning is a business strategy that he VA used in regards to their nursing shortage and the retention well suitable employees. “The use of succession planning as a tool for recruitment, mentoring and administration activities also provides insights for future development of healthcare succession planning frameworks” (Michael E. DeBakey VA Houston). Succession planning is a moving vehicle that helps reestablish employee satisfaction however, have straight impact on the stakeholders that progressed to the front of healthcare planning, owing to current and forthcoming shortages. The VA understands that the amount of nursing that are retiring is a lot, it’s still not keeping with the number of new grades nurses coming into the field. Having this information of losing the wealth of knowledge and expertise, VA leaders and managers are taking steps in practicing succession planning currently to meet future organizational needs for their veterans. These principles and ethics then guide the behavior of organization members. They assist organizations in determining what is right and wrong. Members then act in certain ways, using the values as a guide” (Norman, 2012). Old-style ranked structure of healthcare, can be a threat of confrontation, but give a better awareness to what to come in the nursing field in the US.
