May 7th 2012 Business has become an influential institution in today’s society. Individuals are exposed to certain types of business organizations in every day life as consumers in this highly commercialized society and therefore, increasing attention has been paid on whether businesses are acting ethically. By referring to example of Starbucks and theories from Stephen K. Henn, this paper will illustrate how should an ethical organization looks like, what missions and values it should have to achieve success and why leaderships matters in the organization. Creating a socially responsible food production business with high ethical standards would be one of my future objectives. As we all known that the unique nature of food, comparing with other commodities, requires the organization to place ethic as the fundamental principle consistently since the quality of food directly affect the health and safety of customers as they consume. My food production organization aims to not only provide safe and healthy food with high quality and nutritional value to our customer, but also to ensure that the source of raw material in our supply chain is coming from both environmental friendly and socially responsible supplier. Ultimately, we emphasize to promote a healthier lifestyle through eating a balanced diet instead of limited food sources, also to stimulate the continuing positive development of both agricultural region as well as the well being of local farmers. Actually the attractiveness of business is to do things that you are passionate about, find partners who share common interests with you, and then create values for the society. Indeed, profit is the oxygen of business, however, return of equity maximization should not be the exclusive focus of business. It’s critical for an organization to define its own sets of core values and believes in the beginning in order to be the guideline for future movements in terms of making correction decisions and actions. First of all, myself as the entrepreneur of the company will set up a clear and explicit statement of mission. The basic framework of missions and values would describe that we as an organization is dedicated to support health of the society through delivering the best quality food with unique care for our customer and providing educational resources like outreach programs to share the knowledge of how to built a strong body by eating appropriately with the greater communities. While lot of companies would eager to launch their Initial Public Offering for extra capital, our organization would be and only stay as privately owned company in the foreseeable future. Considering about problems of becoming publicly traded company including pressure from shareholders to purely pursue a higher return in stead of contributing to a better world, which would run exactly the opposite of our original purpose. Along with the development of the company, our core values and beliefs would state that we care deeply about the health condition of every individual in the community, and we believe that its meaningful to improve the lives of our customer by making food an easier, more enjoyable and affordable part of life. We believe that every human body deserves equal concern regarding of the importance of physiological needs of vitamin and nutrition, which could be fulfilled by choosing appropriate meals from a variety of sources. We value the remarkable work done by all food artisans and employees and they are guaranteed to receive a considerable portion of our income as payoffs and rewards. An effective management team will be the engine of our organization. I will select three executives to form the management team to supervise the
