The Origin of Cannabis
Cannabis is a tall plant with a stiff upright stem, divided serrated leaves, and glandular hairs. It is used to produce hemp fiber and as a psychotropic drug. The oldest known written record on cannabis goes all the way back to 2727 B.C. from the Chinese Emperor Shen Nung.
During the 1500’s, cannabis was being spread throughout the western hemisphere where it was imported to the Chile for its uses as fiber from the Spaniards. The Spaniards brought marijuana to the New World in 1545. It was introduced to the English in Jamestown 1611 where it became a huge commercial crop alongside with tobacco while also being used as a source for fiber.
Cannabis has many uses. Marijuana has been used as medical purpose for quite a long time. Marijuana contains a mind altering ingredient called THC (delta9tetrahydrocannabinol).
Marijuana usually contains about one to seven percent of THC. THC attached to and stimulates cannabinoid receptors in the brain when entered the body. The THC stimulates more of an appetite and may reduce pain. Medical Marijuana was proven to reduce pressure inside the eye in people with glaucoma. It is currently being studied to see if marijuana can improve eyesight. It is also proven by early research that smoking marijuana three times a day might reduce nerve pain caused by HIV and other conditions.
The hemp form was grown on many plantations in North America for its use in rope, clothing and paper. Cannabis Sativa grows wildly in many tropical and humid parts of the world.
According to research, the seeds of cannabis sativa has been used to feed animals, its oil as a vehicle for paint, and its fiber for hemp rope.
Marijuana makes many people feel different; for some it makes them feel amazing and as if they are on clouds, while others make them feel uncomfortable and as if they aren’t aware of people. Cannabis can be used to decrease anxiety. Medical Marijuana claims to be a drug that helps relieve pain and to suppress nausea. Those are the two main reasons that medical marijuana is often used to relieve the side effects of chemotherapy. The THC contained in the marijuana slows down the progression of Alzheimer's disease. Marijuana also eases the pain of multiple sclerosis as well as other muscle spasms. Also treatment for hepatitis C and lessons the side effects from treating hepatitis C and increases treatment effectiveness. Marijuana also keeps people skinny and helps your metabolism improve. 15 suggested that people who smoke pot are skinnier than how the weight of an average person.
It is also suggested that people who smoke pot are also suggested to have healthier metabolism and healthier reaction to sugars. THC from the marijuana also triggers your mind to open up.
Many people come up with new ideas even though their shortterm memories tend to function worse when high. Marijuana is also provened to protect the brain after a stroke. It is also safer than alcohol because it is less addictive and doesn’t cause as much physical damage. Marijuana is a topic of significant public discourse in the United States, and while many are familiar with the discussions, it is not always easy to find the latest, researchbased information on marijuana to answer to the common questions about its health effects, or the differences between Federal and state laws concerning the drug. Confusing messages being presented by popular culture, media, proponents of
“medical” marijuana, and political campaigns to legalize all marijuana use perpetuate the false notion that marijuana is harmless. This significantly diminishes efforts tkeep our young people drug free and hampers the struggle of those recovering from addiction.
