I also do take on tasks without hesitation. I am not shied away from challenges and complete them well. One of them is teaching bible study to children at my church on Sundays. The other is building a non-profit foundation to promote sickle cell awareness and helping those in need in my community. Also, spending the time sponsoring and organizing a 5K Walk/Run and supported other organizations as well. For example, volunteering to assist the International Haitian Inter-Cultural Association to help impoverished children in Haiti.
My community involvement has lured my attention towards the counseling program which will allow me to; earn a license to continue to advocate, lead, collaborate and consult on behalf of all students regardless of their ability to learn. The communication skills that I developed have made me a very attentive listener through verbal and non-verbal communications for example patiently engaging my students in questioning and answering for understanding. My profession requires effective and daily communication skills, giving feedback, and reflecting on conversional for clarity. In a stressful situation, I have learned to control my attitude to maintain positive attitudes as well as deescalating negative behavior.
In addition to behavior and attitude, I consider myself as a great team player and through mentoring others I have discovered my true self. Emotionally I show respect to students, parents, colleagues, administration, and friends which allows me to get along with everyone. These attributes resulted into gaining their respect as well.
