The system that supplies our body’s transportation need is the cardiovascular system. Blood carries oxygen and nutrients to the cells of all the organs and tissues of the body and removes waste products from these cells. Cardiovascular system may have numerous problems such as all types of heart diseases. More than 80 million people in the United States suffer from some form of cardiovascular disease, which is any disease that affects the heart and blood vessels (Grovenor). Two cardiovascular diseases are Hypertensive heart disease, and heart failure.
Hypertensive heart disease can be dangerous and is the leading cause of death from high blood pressure. A sign is when high blood pressure causes the blood vessels to be exiguous, where blood flow to the heart can stop or slow down making it difficult for the heart to pump blood. Some signs or symptoms of heart failure are dyspnea, fatigue, lack of appetite or nausea, rapid or irregular heart beat and swelling. Treatment options of the heart failure usually, more than one therapy is used. Treatment includes surgery, medications, and lifestyle changes. Tests for diagnosing heart failure include that person’s information before examination, blood pressure will be taken, they’ll be weighed, they’ll use chest x-rays, and healthcare professional will listen to your heart and lungs using a stethoscope (www.heart.org). The prognosis of the disease is that the heart grows larger to increase its pumping, heart pumps faster so it circulates more blood throughout the body (www.ucsfhealth.org).
