Abstract

The roofing profession is steadily becoming a popular field of work. It is projected to increasingly grow over the next couple of decades. The profession of roofing will provide a person with skill sets and knowledge that will not only assist with establishing a profitable living, but also increase the person's ability to help improve the community in which they live. The profession of roofing is very vital to community growth as well as maintenance. I chose to research this career, because the profession has been a part of my family's heritage for decades. I was introduced to the roofing professional at the young age of six, by my uncles Johnny and Robert Seiber. They have been an owners and operators of a roofing business for the past thirty five years. Roofing has been one of my favorite hobbies since that initial introduction. I was his helper most summers and holidays. I have always loved being outside regardless of the weather conditions. Most roofers work full time and most self-employed roofers govern their own schedules. According to (******) about 1 in 5 roofers were self-employed. The median wage is the wage at which half that workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. (****) As of May 2015, the median annual wage for roofers was $36,720.
