According to the study conducted by economists at the University of Chicago and the University of Vanderbilt, the existing compensation arrangements for school athletes are really inefficient and inequitable. Most of the economists are arguing that the payment caps enforced by National College Athletic Association (NCAA) are restricting the top-class school athletes from receiving the remuneration for the efforts they put on the field. They also argue that the coaches and the administration officers, on the other hand, are receiving substantial salaries which are being paid from the money generated by these athletes. This persuasive paper primarily focuses on arguing that college athletes should be paid for their efforts in addition to the scholarships that they receive.

According to the NCAA, not all the Football Bowl Subdivisions in the United States are making profits. In fact, only one out of every six Football Bowl Subdivisions are making profits, and the profits that they do make are minimal (Garcia, 2010).
