According to the NCAA, not all the Football Bowl Subdivisions in the United States are making profits. In fact, only one out of every six Football Bowl Subdivisions are making profits, and the profits that they do make are minimal (Garcia, 2010). The NCAA is also claiming that the major portion of the profits made in the intercollege athletic programs are spent on the academic side of the respective universities. The NCAA is also arguing that the revenues generated from the popular sports and athletics are channelized to enhance the facilities less lucrative sports such as volley ball and golf (Robert and Amy. 2006).
