If college athletes were paid to play sports it would be unfair to the other college students, they wouldn't take school seriously, and more students would join just for the money. This issue would cause controversy if it were to be enforced. It's an ongoing debate that may or may not be enforced. If it were to be enforced it would leave many college students upset. If college athletes started getting paid it would be unfair to the other college students.
