In my opinion, college athletes, no matter what sport they play, should receive a financial sum for their participation in athletics. Many athletes have to pay for their schooling, as well as participating in their sport. Other students also pay for their schooling, but do not have the obligation to the university like student-athletes do. The university receives money from the games in which the athletes play and therefore some of the money should be split among the student-athletes, or put toward their school bills. The student-athletes have to participate in all team affiliated activities, while also completing their schoolwork.
