How did two shots fired from one gun lead to deaths of around 22 million people you ask? The 22 million casualties came from ‘The Great War’ also known as ‘World War One’. World War One was set to be the war to end all wars but world events and treaties that were made, planted seeds for a second ‘World War Two’. World War One ultimately began on June 28th, 1914 and lasted until the 11th of November 1918.

Throughout this time period the war consisted of countless small attacks and many swift movements of troops. The bulk of the war was built on invasion of land and years of continuous trench warfare. This trench warfare consisted of soldiers in dug trenches forcing their power through machine guns and heavy artillery at opposing enemies. This
