From 100 to 600 the Roman Empire experienced some key political and cultural changes. The decline of the western half, the split of Rome) as well as having some continuity. The west half of Rome was left bare and weak and it quickly collapsed under the weight of the nomadic invasions from 370-480. This occurred because the western half of Rome lost its internal political and cultural support and it lost a majority of its army and then the nomadic invasions crushed the western half of Rome.
