The relationship between certainty and doubt are associated with one another. Typically with certainty there is an inevitable sense of doubt; it is a balance. This is the opinion of British author, mathematician, and philosopher Bertrand Russell. In the society of today doubt is looked upon in a negative light. American citizens do not want the leaders of this nation to doubt their decisions. Certainty is imperative in establishing credibility and doubt generates results.

President Barack Obama cannot express doubt when speaking on important national issues. When American lives are on the line there needs to be absolute certainty of what is said. Parents of soldiers' do not want to hear if Obama “doubts” his plan will work when their child is being put into enemy territory.
A devout Christian can have a very strong belief in God. They could believe that God will save them from anything and be absolutely certain of it. This person could think "I'm going to jump from a skyscraper to skyscraper because I believe I can" as a result of their absolute sense of certainty they die I greatly enjoyed themselves.
The fact is that not everything is possible no matter how strong the belief is. Not questioning anything is a naïve way to go through life. Asking questions can be a powerful learning tool it engages your brain as opposed to taking what you hear and not bothering to inquire about it. As said by the French philosopher Voltaire “Judge a man by his questions rather than by his answers.” Asking questions engages your brain into a higher level of thinking opposed to just accepting the information you are given.
