He believed that farm workers had power in non-violence and they would use it in one way or another to fight for better working conditions. Cesar Chavez was an important person in American History because he was up for a change in the agricultural field in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. He felt this way because the farm workers gave it there all, but didn’t have much to show for it and he didn’t feel that that was right. Another impact was how Chavez was able to get enough people to accomplish the Delano Grape Strike, which lasted for five years and resulted in little to no grape harvesting.
