Perspective is a word that has lost some meaning in today’s society, and I believe it has a negative effect on the human race as a whole, but why does it matter? Why would unique perspectives mean anything in a society where we are taught to conform and think like others and believe what others believe. Chris Pine once said “The only thing you sometimes have control over is perspective. You don't have control over your situation. But you have a choice about how you view it.” That’s a line that really meant something to me. In fact, had it not been longer than 25 words, I would have immediately chosen it for my senior quote.

One of the biggest times I’ve had a change of perspective was during my trip to Vietnam in 2016. Vietnam was a place I could never forget. It was a fascinating trip, where everything was foreign, yet deep down you could feel human values and expression. The first thing I noticed was the weather. One of the most distinct differences between Vietnam and the United States is the climate. The humidity is so thick you could swim in it like ketchup, unlike here in Colorado where I’ve lived most of my life I have never once experienced heat or humidity so severe. Even whilst indoors, rooms felt like an oven where the blazing heat never stopped and everyone was cooking. The temperature in ‘Nam was thirty degrees higher than what it would usually be in Colorado, not incorporating humidity. Regardless of the weather, the Vietnamese people would still manage to complete their daily routines, as they were used to the intense weather. They all had scooters over cars, and it made streets far louder than they are in the U.S. The loud hustle and bustle of scooters and motorbikes roared loudly through their dirt streets. In
