The ultimate goal of any company should be to make the maximum profit irrespective of its scale. Accordingly, whether small or large, companies in the construction industry should always regard making a profit as the ultimate goal in this business. The author in this chapter describes the challenges faced by entrepreneurs in the construction industry and further discusses possible solutions to overcome these challenges. The mission and vision of a company are defined by the owner's aspirations. Owners determine the values that they desire to instill in the employees and the outcomes that they desire from projects. Hence, it is immensely important for a contractor to carefully manage the portfolio of projects in order to achieve a balanced cash flow for smooth operations.
