Chapter 6 of Nightjohn by Gary Paulsen, commences the start of the end of his story of slaves in early America. The chapter opens up to Nightjohn, who is left in terrible condition by Waller for teaching letters, but still decides to continue teaching Sarny despite knowing the cost of losing more of his limbs.
