Life has people learn countless lessons through hardships, memorable times, and everything else in between. Some of the lessons that life has taught The People of Maycomb was that people are more so that not, not who they seem. Another lesson that the people of Maycomb learn through hardships is that people should be treated equally, no matter the reasons. Even if you are struggling economically and are not loved by others, that does not mean you should be discriminated against. The third lesson that is learned is that life is never fair. The life of Tom Robinson was cut short because of his skin color. This is very unfair towards him. Most people are, Scout, when you finally see them.”(Chapter 31 Page 381) He means that Atticus is not the person everyone thinks he is, and that is the same with a lot of other people. The lesson that surprises a vast amount of people in Maycomb is that people are not who they seem. We see this through multiple characters such as Tom Robinson and Boo Radley. Tom Robinson is not how people think of him because people think of him as a man who raped a young woman, but in reality he is just a regular citizen. Another person who is not who they seem is Boo Radley. He seems like a scary man, but in reality he is a nice, kind, and caring person who saved the lives of Scout and Jem. In turn, there are many characters who are not who they seem to be in the town of
