The integration and development of social movements in civilization is considered a revolutionary catalyst for people’s will to express emotions, ideas, information, and bonds. The functionality of social movements moves one step ahead with the use of art. Throughout history, art itself has proven its worth and power as a medium to persuade individuals into new ideological frameworks. Art plays a crucial role in the world of social movements, providing a voice to those marginalized individuals, and fostering a connection between groups. Reviewing the use of photography practices within Chicano/a art reveals that photography is more than just images. Through the lens of photography, the real meaning of these images is to reshape and empower the voices of oppressed communities. Examine the historical relationship between social movements and art.
