There are many pros and cons to introducing a sport into a child’s life. Sports are more than just a pastime, they are a highly involved learning experience for someone at a young age. They provide many skills and experiences for the child in a safe environment to teach them responsibility. For a child to begin to learn how to handle stress, wins, losses and different aspects of adult life in a fun way, it prepares them for the more vigorous tasks that come with coming of age. There are many cons, but there are also many pros and in this essay I will discuss both.

Basketball
Basketball is a good start for any child wanting to test the waters in sports. It is very team oriented with everyone having a specific job. The good thing about basketball is that the court is fairly small and it is normally indoors. This means that games and practices will most likely never be cancelled and it is all year depending on the age group. With the court being small and meeting all the time, the kids are bound to become very good friends and take pride in the team.
2. Tee Ball/ Baseball/Softball
Introducing a child to the very American game of baseball and its variations is a very good starting place. This is teaching them how to have responsibility over their bases, learn to be confident when hitting the ball, or how to be a tough catcher or pitcher. It lets the kids realize that the team would not be the same without them and that they are needed to succeed. It is more spread out among the field and allows for friendships to be made in the dugouts while keeping the game on the field. It is also seasonal so it will leave room for the young one to try out something new, or give the busy parent a
