We need to broaden our horizons and to open our minds to the possibilities of the world out there, otherwise we live in a bubble of ignorance that limits our own potential of growth and knowledge, as well as increases the likelihood of internal bias. This should be a common goal for all people: to keep an open mind, which is what I believe Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was explaining in her speech “The Danger of a Single Story.”
Bias occurs in all people of all walks of life, deeply ingrained in our being. It is up to us however, to educate ourselves on issues occuring in our world, whether they affect us directly or not.
