Many couples worldwide have had trouble with the ability to have children. This can be very upsetting and unfortunate for those people. While some other couples do not have a problem with this. The people of China have been restricted to the number of children that they are allowed to have. These people have the right to have as many children as they desire to and should not be restricted by the government in these types of situations. The One-Child Policy is restricting the rights of the people residing in China and their futures as families. Because of this, the couples are having more children illegally. To do this, the children were left undocumented, so that they were never found out about. In making sure that the child was never discovered he or she was given, “the mother’s maiden name, after the firstborn is given the father’s name”(“More Mothers”). This was used in order to keep the child undocumented and not associated with their family. Women were, “given a stark choice by local officials: pay a 40,000 RMB (6,200 dollars) fine or have an abortion on her second pregnancy”(“China’s One-Child Policy Rejects Girls”). Some couples tried to pay the large fine, but most were unable to meet the requirement. In result of being unable to put up the money for the child, they were, “dragged [ ] to a hospital [ ,] there they [were] beat[en] [ ], blindfolded [ ], and forced [ ] to sign a "consent" form before administering a lethal injection into [the] stomach”(“China’s One-Child Policy Rejects Girls”). This shows that the government of China is taking extreme measures to make sure that women either pay the extreme price or abort the pregnancy of their second child. This is unjust because the people deserve the rights to having their family the way they wish.
