THis can be seen throughout the play “King Lear” the first example of this is when in act 1 scene 1 Lear decides to split up his inheritance between his 3 daughters, he was free to make the choice he was not free from the after effects this one choice made him go through his tragic journey of realization. Another of Lear’s choices was deciding to give Cordelia nothing, then further ahead he is left with nothing, completing this idea of what goes around comes around. This can also be seen when Cornwall is taking out Gloucester’s eyes when a faithful servant of Gloucester’s comes to his aid, Cornwall kills him and the wound given to him by the servant in also his downfall. They both died at each others hand, in this case the ripple effect went full circle quite fast. Edmund at the end of his life also acknowledges that what is happening is the wheel coming full circle as he does state “ Edmund:The wheel is come full circle; I am here” (5:3:209). Edmund acknowledges that everything he has done has lead him to this end, that what he has done to others has come around and it is his turn to bear the after effects of his choices.
In the end an individual's choices does paves the way for the rest of their path. That while the environment , situation, or people may influence their path the path just like the choice is always taken by the individual. The individual is always is always free to make
